At Advent Lutheran Church, we think the most important thing a church can do is to make disciples. We live out our calling of making disciples by welcoming and affirming all people, discovering what God has in store for each and every one of us and developing our faith in God through acts of worship, fellowship, and service. We strive to live out God’s grace by worshiping God, sharing time together in fellowship, and reaching out to our neighbors. We have a place for you here in the mission and ministry of Advent Lutheran Church.
Advent Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States with 4 million members. The ELCA is composed of 65 geographic synods. Our congregation belongs to the Southeastern Synod, which includes 160 congregations in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
The ELCA is the only Lutheran denomination in the United States which is a member of the Lutheran World Federation, a global communion of 145 member churches in 79 countries representing more than 70 million Lutherans around the world.
The ELCA is in full communion with the Episcopal Church, Moravian Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), Reformed Church in America, United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church.
Please accept this invitation and challenge of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ. The journey is sure to be filled with peaks and valleys, yet Jesus promises to be with us every step of the way. Come and see!
Pastor – Vacant
Advent is currently in the midst of discerning a new call. We are holding worship services weekly as normal, presided over by a series of supply pastors. If you are in need of pastoral care during this period, please contact the church office and ask for the Shepards team.
